Secret Tokyo Experience: Fish in Edogawa, Feast in Roppongi

boat fishing

Experience Tokyo Bay fishing with Hiiragimaru in Edogawa. From Ichinoe: 5 min by taxi or ~20 min on foot. Catch-&-eat at a partner sushi bar in Roppongi.

Fishing. It is a traditional Japanese culture that only those who know Japan well would know about.

If you come to Japan, why not try a traditional Japanese experience rather than just visiting tourist spots?
In fact, fishing is one of Japan’s traditional outdoor pastimes. The experience of fishing in the beautiful ocean is a special pleasure known only to those in the know.
With Hiiragimaru in Edogawa, Tokyo, you can reach the boarding point from Toei Shinjuku Line Ichinoe Station in about 5 minutes by taxi or roughly 20 minutes on foot. Here, you can enjoy a special day: catch fresh fish yourself, then savor your catch at a partner restaurant!

Regional Characteristics

A perfect nearby highlight is KASAI RINKAI PARK, a seaside oasis famed for its giant Ferris wheel, Tokyo Sea Life Park, and spacious lawns. Families love watching schools of tuna circle the main tank, strolling coastal boardwalks, and relaxing with bay views. Easy rail access puts it about 30 minutes from central Tokyo, making it an ideal pre- or post-fishing stop. With ocean breezes and open skies, the park lets you feel Tokyo’s waterfront nature while staying close to the city’s sights and dining.

Access

For Tokyo Bay, we warmly recommend a fishing experience with Hiiragimaru.
From Toei Shinjuku Line Ichinoe Station, it’s a short taxi ride (about 5 minutes) or a ~20-minute walk. If you drive, nearby coin parking is available, so access is simple whether you’re coming from central Tokyo or the airport area.

Features

The captain’s philosophy is welcoming and reassuring: “Whether you are a first-timer, have little experience, or are a woman or a child, I want you to enjoy fishing easily and with peace of mind.” Since opening, Hiiragimaru has offered hassle-free, bring-nothing trips with kind, attentive guidance. Charter options are popular for private groups, while shared rides are also available—charters make it even easier to share the fun within your circle. If you’re unsure about anything, the captain and crew explain everything gently and clearly, so families and beginners can relax.

Beginners need not worry.

If you’re thinking, “I’ve never fished—will I be okay?”, don’t worry. Hiiragimaru provides rental rods and reels, so you can join empty-handed. A spacious deck and clean restroom keep everyone comfortable, even if fishing is new to you. Just bring your excitement—everything else is taken care of.

Let’s start fishing!

The Hiiragimaru team is dedicated to guest satisfaction.
Trips cover Tokyo Bay throughout the seasons—popular targets include seabass, red sea bream, horse mackerel, octopus, cutlassfish, and more. Whether day or evening departures, there’s always something exciting to chase—and, best of all, to eat later!

After fishing, head to one of our partner restaurants!

After your trip, travel by car or taxi for about 40–60 minutes from the fishing area to Sushi & Bar KOTO in Roppongi. Just a few minutes’ walk from Roppongi Station, it’s perfect for enjoying your own catch as sushi, sashimi, or even tempura in a relaxed, stylish setting—an unforgettable “catch-and-eat” moment in Tokyo.
If you feel it’s a bit far, please contact me from the Form at the end. I’ll find a closer restaurant that can cook your fish near the fishing spot! And if you’re hesitant to call the restaurant, I’ll happily handle the arrangements for you!

Fresh fish dishes and delicious sake

The freshness of the fish means that it doesn’t have that fishy smell, and the fresh, shiny flesh is mouth-watering.
The sight of the fresh fish being cut up by the chef’s knife and transformed into sashimi, which combines the best of both worlds, is a wonderful work of art that you can enjoy with your eyes!

The sushi chef in Japan will cut up the fish you’ve caught and serve it to you!
Is there any greater luxury than being able to fully enjoy and experience Japan? As far as I know, there isn’t.
If you consult with the manager in advance, it should be possible to have them make sushi for you!
By all means, please enjoy Japanese culture and sushi to your heart’s content!

Finally

Fishing is not just about catching fish – you can also enjoy the refreshing feeling of being in nature and the sense of fulfillment that comes from obtaining your own ingredients. Then, while reminiscing about the day’s experience and enjoying a conversation with your family or friends who went fishing with you, you can enjoy eating the delicious, freshly-cooked fish. This is a luxurious experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan!
Why not make the day you and your family or friends spend around Tokyo Bay a special one by adding a Hiiragimaru fishing trip?
