Fishing. It is a traditional Japanese culture that only those who know Japan well would know about.
If you come to Japan, why not try a traditional Japanese experience rather than just visiting tourist spots?
In fact, fishing is one of Japan’s traditional outdoor pastimes. At “Shodaimaru” in Minamiboso, you can fish the Pacific on a comfortable, beginner-friendly boat and then enjoy your own catch at the partner restaurant nearby.
Access time to the boat (for the eye-catch “01” section): From JR Chikura Station, take a local bus toward Shiramazu for about 16–19 min, then a short walk. By car or taxi it’s roughly 10–11 min (≈7.7 km).
Regional Characteristics
Shiramazu Flower Fields is a seaside patchwork of seasonal blooms in Chikura. From winter to early spring, poppies, stock and nanohana color the coast, with ocean views just steps away. It’s an easy stop before or after your trip, with local stands and rest areas along the road—perfect for photos and a breezy walk between sea and flowers.

Access
We recommend a fishing experience at Shodaimaru (Shiramazu Port, Minamiboso, Chiba).
From JR Chikura Station, ride the local bus toward Shiramazu for about 16–19 minutes and walk a few minutes to the pier. By car or taxi it’s about 10–11 minutes (≈7.7 km). The port area is compact and easy to navigate even for first-timers.
Features
The captain’s motto is simple: “I want beginners, families, and women to enjoy fishing comfortably and with peace of mind.” The large, well-equipped boat has individual fishing chairs, a climate-controlled cabin, and clean restrooms (including a women-only toilet). Rod and reel rentals are available, so you can come hands-free. Shared trips and private charters are both offered—the latter is perfect for making memories with your own group. The friendly crew explains everything kindly, so everyone can relax and have fun.
Beginners need not worry.
If you’re wondering, “I’ve never fished—will I be okay?”, absolutely yes. Shodaimaru offers easy rentals for rods and reels, so you can join without bringing gear. With a roomy deck and clean toilets on board, even those new to fishing feel comfortable right away. The crew will guide you step by step, making it a stress-free day for women and families.
Let’s start fishing!
The crew is dedicated to making your day great!
Depending on season and conditions, you may target red sea bream, amberjack and other “blue fish,” cutlassfish, porgy, horse mackerel, mackerel, rockfish, and more. The variety near Shiramazu keeps things exciting—and delicious.
After fishing, head to one of our partner restaurants!
After your trip, stroll about 10–12 minutes (≈0.9 km) from Shiramazu Port to “Shokujidokoro Shodaimaru”, the partner restaurant near the pier. The staff can prepare your fresh catch, turning it into sashimi, bowls, or cooked dishes. If the restaurant is busy, they may not be able to take special requests, so calling ahead is best. If that feels a bit far, just message me via the Form at the end—I’ll find a closer place that can cook your fish. And if you’re shy about calling the restaurant, I’ll happily arrange it for you!

Fresh fish dishes and delicious sake
The freshness of the fish means that it doesn’t have that fishy smell, and the fresh, shiny flesh is mouth-watering.
The sight of the fresh fish being cut up by the chef’s knife and transformed into sashimi, which combines the best of both worlds, is a wonderful work of art that you can enjoy with your eyes!

The sushi chef in Japan will cut up the fish you’ve caught and serve it to you!
Is there any greater luxury than being able to fully enjoy and experience Japan? As far as I know, there isn’t.
If you consult with the manager in advance, it should be possible to have them make sushi for you!
By all means, please enjoy Japanese culture and sushi to your heart’s content!

Finally
Fishing is not just about catching fish – you can also enjoy the refreshing feeling of being in nature and the sense of fulfillment that comes from obtaining your own ingredients. Then, while reminiscing about the day’s experience and enjoying a conversation with your family or friends who went fishing with you, you can enjoy eating the delicious, freshly-cooked fish. This is a luxurious experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan!
Why not make the day you and your family or friends spend at Rinku Port Kita in Tajiri-cho, Sennan-gun, Osaka Prefecture, a special one by adding a fishing experience at JACK?
