Fishing. It is a traditional Japanese culture that only those who know Japan well would know about.
If you come to Japan, why not try a traditional Japanese experience rather than just visiting tourist spots?
In fact, fishing is one of Japan's traditional outdoor pastimes. The experience of fishing in the beautiful ocean is a special pleasure known only to those in the know.
The fishing experience at “Sedomaru” on the Miura Peninsula lets you catch fresh fish yourself and then enjoy them at a partner restaurant—an only-in-Japan special day!

Access time from the nearest station: Keikyu Miura-Kaigan Station → about 15–20 min by taxi/car (approx. 6.3 km). On foot it would take roughly 80–90 min, so a taxi is recommended.
Regional Characteristics
On the Miura Peninsula, one must-see spot is Jogashima, the island at the very tip of the cape. Rugged cliffs, tide pools and a lighthouse create dramatic coastal scenery, perfect for photos year-round. After a stroll, you can savor local seafood at nearby eateries. Close to central Tokyo yet rich in nature and fishing culture, Jogashima pairs beautifully with a Sedomaru trip—visit before or after your charter for a complete Miura experience.

Access
For this trip we recommend fishing with Sedomaru in Miura, Kanagawa.
By car, take the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road to Sahara IC, then about 20 minutes to the port. By public transport, ride Keikyu to Miura-Kaigan Station and take a taxi about 15–20 minutes to the pier.
Features
The captain always says he wants everyone—first-timers, those with little experience, and women—to enjoy fishing comfortably and with peace of mind. With that spirit, Sedomaru has offered easy “come empty-handed” trips since opening. You’ll have a warm, friendly time with the kind captain. Private charters are available so your group can relax together, and of course shared trips run too. If you’re unsure about anything, the captain and crew explain patiently—perfect for women and families with children.
Beginners need not worry.
If you're worried about whether you’ll enjoy yourself even if you’ve never fished before, don’t be. Sedomaru offers rentals for rods, reels and more, so beginners can join with ease. Along with a spacious deck, there are clean restrooms, so even those new to fishing can relax and have fun.

Let's start fishing!
Sedomaru’s crew is dedicated to guest satisfaction!
They target a variety of species depending on the season—sea bream, yellowtail, cutlassfish, filefish, horse mackerel, mackerel, rockfish, black croaker and more—so every outing is exciting and delicious.

After fishing, head to one of our partner restaurants!
After fishing with Sedomaru, head to our partner spot Izakaya Hatsunaga (初長) in Kawasaki. From the port, it’s roughly about 1 hr 30 min by car. By public transport, go from Miura-Kaigan Station via Keikyu and JR/Tokyu lines—around 2 hours including transfers. It’s a bit of a ride, but having a chef prepare your own catch is a special urban treat!
If you feel “that’s a bit far,” please contact me from the form at the end. I’ll find a nearby restaurant where you can have your catch cooked and enjoyed! And if you’re hesitant to call the restaurant, I’ll gladly arrange it for you.

Fresh fish dishes and delicious sake
The freshness means no fishy smell; translucent flesh whets the appetite.
Watching a skilled chef transform your catch into exquisite sashimi is edible art—pair with beer or sake for the perfect memory.

The sushi chef in Japan will cut up the fish you've caught and serve it to you!
Is there any greater luxury than being able to fully enjoy and experience Japan? As far as I know, there isn't.
If you consult with the manager in advance, it should be possible to have them make sushi for you!
By all means, please enjoy Japanese culture and sushi to your heart's content!

Finally
Fishing is not just about catching fish - you can also enjoy the refreshing feeling of being in nature and the sense of fulfillment that comes from obtaining your own ingredients. Then, while reminiscing about the day's experience and enjoying a conversation with your family or friends who went fishing with you, you can enjoy eating the delicious, freshly-cooked fish. This is a luxurious experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan!
Why not make the day you and your family or friends spend on the Miura Peninsula a special one by adding a fishing experience with Sedomaru?
