Discover Osaka: USJ Fun + Hidden Fishing & Dining Gems

boat fishing

Fishing. It is a traditional Japanese culture that only those who know Japan well would know about.

If you come to Japan, why not try a traditional Japanese experience rather than just visiting tourist spots?
In fact, fishing is one of Japan's traditional outdoor pastimes. The experience of fishing in the beautiful ocean is a special pleasure known only to those in the know.
The fishing experience at “SEA PARADISE” in Osaka’s Konohana ward starts from Osaka Port Marina. The nearest station is JR Taisho; it’s about 15 minutes by car/taxi from the station to the marina (walking takes over an hour, so a vehicle is recommended). Here you can catch fresh fish yourself and then enjoy them at a nearby partner restaurant the same day!

Regional Characteristics

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is a world-class theme park just a short ride from the marina. Step into blockbuster worlds—from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™—and enjoy spectacular rides, shows, and seasonal parades. Pair a morning of ocean fishing with an afternoon at USJ to savor both Osaka’s urban entertainment and its seaside nature in a single, unforgettable day. English support is common on site, making it friendly for international visitors.

Access

In Osaka Prefecture, we recommend a fishing experience with SEA PARADISE.
Access is easy: from JR Taisho Station, reach Osaka Port Marina in about 15 minutes by taxi or car. Its city-center location makes it perfect for adding a little adventure between sightseeing or after landing at Kansai International Airport.

Features

The captain’s motto is simple: “I want beginners, the less experienced, and women to feel totally comfortable and have fun.” Since opening, SEA PARADISE has offered easy, hands-free trips so you can just show up and enjoy. The captain’s warm personality shines through, and you’ll surely have a wonderful time on board. Charter trips are available so your group can relax together, and shared trips are offered too—though the captain believes charters let friends share the fun even more. If anything is unclear, the captain and crew explain kindly and carefully, so women and families with children can feel at ease.

Beginners need not worry.

“Is it okay if I’ve never fished?” Absolutely! SEA PARADISE offers full rentals—rods, reels, and more—so even first-timers can join with no hassle. Spacious decks and a clean private restroom make it comfortable, and the friendly crew will guide you step by step. It’s an ideal setting for a stress-free sea-fishing debut.

Let's start fishing!

SEA PARADISE targets a variety of seasonal species in Osaka Bay—yellowtail/amberjack, Spanish mackerel, sea bream, cutlassfish, and seabass among others. The captain focuses on what’s biting that day so you can enjoy both the thrill of the fight and the taste at the table. Fun to catch, delicious to eat!

After fishing, head to one of our partner restaurants!

After your trip, head about 10 minutes by car from Osaka Port Marina to “Umaimonoya Azuma” in Konohana ward. They accept your catch and cook it into dishes like sashimi, tempura, and sushi so you can enjoy peak freshness. It’s close, easy, and the perfect way to wrap up your day on the water.
If it feels a bit far for your schedule, please contact me via the Form at the end and I’ll find another restaurant closer to the fishing spot where you can have your catch prepared and served. And if you’re hesitant to call the restaurant, I’m happy to make the arrangements for you!

Fresh fish dishes and delicious sake

The just-caught fish has no off-odor—its translucent, glistening flesh whets the appetite. Watching a chef transform it with precise knife work into pristine sashimi is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Tempura and sushi are also wonderful ways to enjoy your hard-earned catch.

The sushi chef in Japan will cut up the fish you've caught and serve it to you!
Is there any greater luxury than being able to fully enjoy and experience Japan? As far as I know, there isn't.
If you consult with the manager in advance, it should be possible to have them make sushi for you!
By all means, please enjoy Japanese culture and sushi to your heart's content!

Finally

Fishing is not just about catching fish - you can also enjoy the refreshing feeling of being in nature and the sense of fulfillment that comes from obtaining your own ingredients. Then, while reminiscing about the day's experience and enjoying a conversation with your family or friends who went fishing with you, you can enjoy eating the delicious, freshly-cooked fish. This is a luxurious experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan!
Why not make the day you and your family or friends spend around Osaka’s waterfront truly special with a SEA PARADISE trip?
