Fishing. It is a traditional Japanese culture that only those who know Japan well would know about.
If you come to Japan, why not try a traditional Japanese experience rather than just visiting tourist spots?
Fishing on the tip of the Chita Peninsula with the large boat “Matsushin-maru” offers a special day: land your own fresh fish, then enjoy it cooked right away at the inn.
Access tip: Meeting point is at Ryokan Matsushin. From Meitetsu Kowa Station it’s about 10 minutes by car (≈6 km) or about 60–70 minutes on foot. From Nagoya by expressway, plan roughly ~1 hour.

Regional Characteristics
Shinojima Island is a beloved getaway near Minamichita—an oasis of sandy beaches, glowing sunsets, and ultra-fresh seafood like whitebait and puffer fish. The island’s relaxed pace, fishing heritage, and clear views over Ise Bay make it a perfect half-day add-on to your fishing trip. From Meitetsu Kowa Station, high-speed boats reach the island in about 25 minutes, so you can easily combine “catch and taste” on the mainland with slow-travel island time in one itinerary.

Access
In Aichi Prefecture, we recommend a fishing experience with Matsushin-maru.
The meeting point is inside Ryokan Matsushin. From Meitetsu Kowa Station it’s around 10 minutes by car, and about an hour’s drive from central Nagoya via expressway. Free parking is available.
Features
The captain’s motto is simple: “Whether you’re brand-new, a little inexperienced, a woman, or coming with children—please enjoy fishing with peace of mind.” Since opening, Matsushin-maru has focused on easy, bring-nothing trips. You can charter the whole boat to relax with your group, or join a shared trip—either way, the crew’s gentle guidance makes everything smooth. If you’re unsure about anything, the captain and staff explain kindly and clearly, so you can settle in and enjoy quality time on the water.
Beginners need not worry.
If you’re wondering, “I’ve never fished—will I be okay?” the answer is: absolutely. Matsushin-maru offers solid rentals—rods, reels, and more—so you can join hands-free. A spacious deck and clean restrooms keep everyone comfortable, even first-timers. You just bring your curiosity; they’ll handle the rest so you can relax and have fun.

Let’s start fishing!
The crew is dedicated to delighting anglers! Popular nearby “multi-species” trips chase what’s in season: cutlassfish, horse mackerel, rockfish, flathead, puffer, filefish, and more. It’s fun to fight—and even more fun to eat—your own catch.

After fishing, head to one of our partner restaurants!
After your trip, simply step into Ryokan Matsushin—the meeting point doubles as the dining venue for Sakippo cuisine. It’s 0 minutes on foot from the dock to the dining room, where chefs can prepare your catch as sashimi, tempura, or simmered dishes (fees may apply). If the restaurant is busy, advance contact is essential. If reaching out feels awkward, just message me and I’ll be happy to arrange it!

Fresh fish dishes and delicious sake
The freshness of the fish means that it doesn’t have that fishy smell, and the fresh, shiny flesh is mouth-watering.
The sight of the fresh fish being cut up by the chef’s knife and transformed into sashimi, which combines the best of both worlds, is a wonderful work of art that you can enjoy with your eyes!

The sushi chef in Japan will cut up the fish you’ve caught and serve it to you!
Is there any greater luxury than being able to fully enjoy and experience Japan? As far as I know, there isn’t.
If you consult with the manager in advance, it should be possible to have them make sushi for you!
By all means, please enjoy Japanese culture and sushi to your heart’s content!

Finally
Fishing is not just about catching fish – you can also enjoy the refreshing feeling of being in nature and the sense of fulfillment that comes from obtaining your own ingredients. Then, while reminiscing about the day’s experience and enjoying a conversation with your family or friends who went fishing with you, you can enjoy eating the delicious, freshly-cooked fish. This is a luxurious experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan!
Why not make the day you and your family or friends spend at Rinku Port Kita in Tajiri-cho, Sennan-gun, Osaka Prefecture, a special one by adding a fishing experience at JACK?
