Kamakura Fishing Journey: Taste Fresh Japan Experiences

boat fishing

Experience fishing in Kamakura at Ikedamaru in Koshigoe Port. Beginner-friendly boats, quick walk from Enoden Koshigoe Station, and partner restaurants for your fresh catch.

Fishing. It is a traditional Japanese culture that only those who know Japan well would know about.

If you come to Japan, why not try a traditional Japanese experience rather than just visiting tourist spots?
In fact, fishing is one of Japan’s traditional outdoor pastimes. The experience of fishing in the beautiful ocean is a special pleasure known only to those in the know.
At Ikedamaru in Koshigoe Port, Kamakura, you can enjoy a special day: catch fresh fish yourself and then savor it at a partner restaurant right away.
Access (for the eye-catch): Enoden Koshigoe Station → 1–2 min on foot. By car: from Asahina IC ~25 min / Zushi IC ~30 min.

Regional Characteristics

Kamakura’s iconic Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine anchors the city’s history and culture. Founded by Minamoto no Yoritomo, it offers stately halls, a dance pavilion, and seasonal beauty—cherry blossoms in spring and vivid foliage in autumn. Located about a 10-minute walk from Kamakura Station, it’s perfect to pair with a seaside fishing day in nearby Koshigoe. Stroll its spacious grounds, take in rituals and architecture, and feel the living heritage that has shaped Kamakura for centuries—all within easy reach of the coast.

Access

In Kanagawa Prefecture, we recommend a fishing experience with Ikedamaru at Koshigoe Port, Kamakura.
It’s extremely convenient: just 1–2 minutes on foot from Enoden Koshigoe Station. From central Enoshima/Kamakura it’s only a few stops by train, and by car you can reach the port in about 25–30 minutes from the Yokohama-Yokosuka Expressway interchanges.

Features

The captain’s philosophy is simple and kind-hearted: “I want beginners, those with little experience, and women to enjoy fishing with peace of mind.” Ever since opening, Ikedamaru has offered easy, bring-nothing fishing so anyone can join. The captain’s warm personality makes time on board genuinely relaxing. Prefer a private vibe? Charter boats are available for friends and families, while shared trips are also welcome. If you’re unsure about anything, the captain and crew explain patiently—so women and kids can feel totally at ease.

Beginners need not worry.

If you’re wondering, “I’ve never fished—will I be okay?”, don’t worry. Ikedamaru offers rental rods and reels, so you can join empty-handed. With a spacious deck and clean restrooms, even first-timers can relax and enjoy the experience comfortably.

Let’s start fishing!

Ikedamaru runs trips targeting seasonal favorites such as filefish, tilefish, pufferfish, yellowtail, amberjack, flounder, and octopus—fun to catch and delicious to eat!

After fishing, head to one of our partner restaurants!

After fishing with Ikedamaru, walk about 1 minute to “Jizakana Ryori Ikedamaru (Koshigoe Main Shop)” right by the port—super easy.
If you’d like a quieter setting, “Inamuragasaki Shop” is about 10 minutes by car or 2 stops by Enoden to Inamuragasaki Station, then a 2-minute walk.
Your fish will be expertly prepared into sashimi or tempura on the same day—an unforgettable sea-to-table moment.
If you feel it’s a bit far, please reach out via the Form at the end—we’ll find a closer restaurant that cooks your catch. And if you’re hesitant to contact the restaurant, I’ll gladly arrange it for you!

Fresh fish dishes and delicious sake

The freshness of the fish means that it doesn’t have that fishy smell, and the fresh, shiny flesh is mouth-watering.
The sight of the fresh fish being cut up by the chef’s knife and transformed into sashimi, which combines the best of both worlds, is a wonderful work of art that you can enjoy with your eyes!

The sushi chef in Japan will cut up the fish you’ve caught and serve it to you!
Is there any greater luxury than being able to fully enjoy and experience Japan? As far as I know, there isn’t.
If you consult with the manager in advance, it should be possible to have them make sushi for you!
By all means, please enjoy Japanese culture and sushi to your heart’s content!

Finally

Fishing is not just about catching fish – you can also enjoy the refreshing feeling of being in nature and the sense of fulfillment that comes from obtaining your own ingredients. Then, while reminiscing about the day’s experience and enjoying a conversation with your family or friends who went fishing with you, you can enjoy eating the delicious, freshly-cooked fish. This is a luxurious experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan!
Why not make the day you and your family or friends spend at Rinku Port Kita in Tajiri-cho, Sennan-gun, Osaka Prefecture, a special one by adding a fishing experience at JACK?
