The Fishing Experience – Step by Step 🎣

A day with TRUST runs like this:

1. Meet at Furuura Port, on the Kashima coast of Matsue City, at the departure time for your chosen trip — anywhere from before dawn to noon, depending on which of TRUST's four fishing styles you've booked.
2. Board and settle in, with a microwave, a hot-water pot, a resting space, a toilet, and a shower on board for the longer trips.
3. Fish your chosen style, whether that's casting or jigging for hiramasa-class amberjack, chuushinkai slow jigging into deep water, or dropping an ika-metal rig once the light starts to fade.
4. Bring your catch aboard alongside whatever the rest of the group lands that day — amberjack, a deep-water species, or squid, depending on the plan.
5. Return to Furuura Port at the time set for your trip — anywhere from late afternoon to well after dark, since each of TRUST's four fishing styles keeps its own schedule.

Fishing Methods & Target Species

TRUST fishes for hiramasa-class amberjack by both casting and jigging, works deep water with chuushinkai slow jigging, and switches to ika-metal for squid after dark. The operator's own site lists hiramasa (yellowtail amberjack), squid, cod, tanuki-mebaru, ara, yumekasago, and rockfish as its target species.

On a clear day, that same casting and jigging brings up amberjack this size on nothing more dramatic than a green jig — and, on one occasion, a large mahi-mahi as well. Mahi-mahi isn't on the operator's own species list; it showed up in a photo, not in the charter's own description of what it targets, so I'm noting it here as something that's been caught rather than as one of TRUST's advertised species.

The deep-water side of TRUST's fishing runs on its own rhythm entirely. Chuushinkai slow jigging departs earliest of all four trips, at 4:30, and doesn't return until 18:30. What comes up is best described within the operator's own species list — cod, ara, yumekasago, or tanuki-mebaru — since a photo alone isn't enough to call the exact species with confidence; "a deep-water fish" is the honest description. Once night falls over the same port, ika-metal trips go out instead, split into first, second, semi-long, and long departures depending on how much of the night you want on the water — a squid brought up under the deck lights closes out a very different kind of day from the one that starts with a jig before dawn.

Reservation, Access & Pricing

TRUST carries up to 12 passengers, running either as a shared-boat (noriai) charter or as a private charter, with private groups based around 8 to 10 people. Onboard there's a microwave, a hot-water pot, a resting space, a toilet, and a shower. Rental tackle is available, but only in limited quantity, and lures themselves aren't part of the rental — bring your own jigs, pencil baits, or sutte if you have preferences.

Schedule 🕘

TRUST's departure and return windows change completely depending on which trip you book. Hiramasa-class amberjack casting departs 4:00–5:00 and returns 17:30–18:30. Jigging for the same amberjack departs 5:00–6:00 and returns 17:00–18:30. Chuushinkai slow jigging into deep water departs earliest, at 4:30, and returns latest, at 18:30. Ika-metal squid trips are split into first, second, semi-long, and long departures, each with its own timing that I'll confirm once your date is set, and there is a combined rockfish-and-ika-metal trip on top of those, departing at noon and returning at midnight. Because the dinner partner's evening service opens at 17:00, both the casting and the jigging trips return in time to go straight there from the dock.

What to Bring 🎒

☀️ Spring/Summer: Sunscreen, sunglasses, a wide-brim hat, plenty of water, and light snacks. The deck is fully exposed — no shade. Stay hydrated, especially on early-morning departures and the return leg.
❄️ Autumn/Winter: The sea is colder than on land. Dress at least two layers warmer than you would ashore, and bring a windproof outer layer.
👟 Footwear: Water-resistant shoes or sandals that can get wet and won't slip on a wet deck.

How to Get to Furuura Port

TRUST departs from Furuura Port, on the Kashima coast of Matsue City (near 690-0333 Shimane-ken Matsue-shi Kashima-cho Furuura 601). The operator's own access guide is built entirely around expressway interchanges rather than train stations: Kawatsu IC if you're coming from the Kansai direction, Matsue Chuo IC if you're coming from Hiroshima. No nearest station is listed at all, so plan on driving.

If you have time before or after your trip, Matsue Castle — a designated National Treasure, with its original black keep still standing — is about a 13-minute, 11.9-km drive from the port.

Dinner After the Charter – Taku Shokudo 🍶

TRUST's dining partner is Taku Shokudo, inside the Kashima Taku-no-yu hot spring bathhouse at 885-7 Kitakobu, Kashima-cho, Matsue City — about a 10-minute, 5.9-km drive from Furuura Port. Lunch service runs 11:00–14:00 (last order 13:45); dinner runs 17:00–20:00 (last order 19:45). Closed Thursdays.

That 17:00 dinner opening is the detail worth building your day around. The casting trip returns 17:30–18:30, and the jigging trip returns 17:00–18:30 — so on either of those two trips, you can go straight from the dock to dinner with no gap to fill. Whether Taku Shokudo will cook a catch you bring in yourself hasn't been confirmed, so please don't plan around that until I've called and checked. What is on the menu, at least on weekends, is a sazae (turban shell) rice set, alongside a shio ramen.

The hot spring itself, Kashima Taku-no-yu, is open 10:00–22:00, with last entry at 20:30 — late enough that even an 18:30 return from a deep-water slow-jigging trip leaves time for a soak before the counter closes for the night.
